USF St. Petersburg Marine Sciences Art Opening

Nelson Poynter Memorial Library 140 7th Ave. S. St. Petersburg, Fl. 33701

4:30pm-6:30pm

The 9th anniversary of the BP oil spill is Saturday, April 20th. The USF Marine Science Center has been researching the effects and recovery of the ecosystems affected by the spill. Their research book with the findings has been completed and includes artwork from local artists. On Thursday, April 18th a temporary exhibit at the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library at USF St. Pete will open to show the original art work.

The plan for the event is to premier the pieces created for the book, along with prints of some of the deep-sea fauna pictures, as an oil spill art exhibit highlighting the research efforts of USF after the oil spill. This collection of paintings and prints will hang in the library throughout the summer.

The event will be in the early evening (4:30-6:30pm). The public and USFSP students are invited and they will have some of their researchers speak about the oil spill research coming out of USF St. Pete.
